Tunics
« on: February 06, 2008, 06:10:08 PM »

A good topic I saw on another forum and that I agree with:

Quote from: Avenged
Ok, ever since A Link to the Past, we have yet to see true tunics used in any Zelda game. The old school tunics would prevent damage by 1/4,1/2 etc...but the new tunics we see are like the ones in OoT to where it used against an element (fire, water), which is good and all, but what ever happened to the good ole tunics from back in the day.

Twilight Princess actually had the Magic Armor which made Link pretty much invincible, but it was VERY limited, it used rupees...and even if you had 1000 rupees, the armor would lose its power within the minute, and Link couldnt even move, even slower than when he has the Iron Boots on.

I would love to see the return of the mails/tunics from ALttP as a defense factor, as well as a few new ones that are used against elements.

...wow... Avenged is right... I really liked all the tunics in ALttP, but was't it just in ALttP and AoL? Personally,I'm fine with the Element Protecting Tunics (EPT), even though they're kindof.. missing something...

LoZ also had the tunics like that, only it was the Blue and Red rings...and in AoL its a spell.

I think that Nintendo didn't like the idea of damage protecting tunics in the 3D Zelda games though.

Would you rather have tunics that just change your color, or tunics that provide some defense?

^but then you would be forced to wear a certain color... and that would be annoying, so I say... with special effects unique to each, like in OoT.

TP had the Zora Armor (which looked awesome)...but it actually lowered your defense against ice and fire attacks.

Yup, I had about 1 and 1/2 hearts left while wearing the Zora armor, I got off Epona, then right at that second, a fire arrow hit me and I died. I think in TP the best choice of tunic would be the regular hero tunic. (or whatever it's called) Personally, I like the ALttP tunics. They should bring those back.

I just remembered OoT had the upgraded Heart thing that you can get before Ganon's Castle...thats pretty close to defense tunics.

I'm more of an offensive kinda guy. I would totally dig a tunic that would power up my attack.

In TMC you could get the purple tunic from Farore's potion, and that gave you an offensive boost and a defensive boost iirc.
