My current favorites out of the lesser-known mangas/animes are:

Black Lagoon

Gantz

Speed Grapher

Witchblade (such a sad final episode! But Masane didn't die from it, luckily)

Basilisk (It's a wierd one)

I used to watch .hack// back when it came on, but it made no sense at all.
