A large number of new details for Super Mario Bros. Wii and Nintendo's controversial "Demo Play" option have surfaced, by a recent hands-on preview by Kotaku.

There will be eight worlds in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, much like past side-scrolling Mario affairs,; the same general plot is also here: save Princess Peach from the clutches of Bowser. Koopa Kids are the main baddies of the game, who are fought in a level's castle. To increase replay value, missions that involve rescuing Toad will be playable on cleared levels. Branching paths in levels make a return, and will be much like the ones in New Super Mario Bros. for the DS.

Multiplayer has co-op play for the main story, as well as Free for All and Coin Battle competitive modes. Still no Wi-Fi Connection.

The "Demo Play" option of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which has come under much criticism by gaming fans abroad because of its thought nature to dumb down the game, now has a name: "Super Guide". Contrary to what gamers initially thought, Super Guide can only be used in certain points throughout the game. These points are after the player has died eight times and have activated a green block in a level. Once this is done, Luigi will swap out with Mario and go on through the level on his own, and the player also has the ability to take back control at any time; but can only be used once.

Super Guide is completely optional to use, and can even be disabled in the options menu. This grants Nintendo the ability to make games with Super Guide as difficult as they want, and New Super Mario Bros. Wii is evident of that.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii launches in North America on November 15th, 2009.

Will you be picking up New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and what are your new opinions of the Super Guide feature?
