Well, to me there has been an advantage from this bill. I can now stay on my parents' plan until 26, which means I don't have to pay lots more money for a while, which really helps me because I'm already paying huge tuition bills.

I heard the Copenhagen summit ended inconclusively. I think we should have another one, and end it conclusively -.-

Well, they do have to get there somehow. How else would you suppose they get there?

But I think the conference is a good idea. The US needs to sign something regarding greenhouse gases, and Obama might actually do that at Copenhagen.

Don't think that way. It's a very, very negative way to think. I take a realistic approach. Yes, there are horrible things that our species does to the planet, but that doesn't mean that we are incapable of reversing it. I think it is becoming increasingly possible to reverse now that we have the (more green) Democrats in Congress. Also, did you know, many world powers are meeting at a Climate Change summit in Copenhagen this month? Progress is beginning to be expected. Don't resort to suicide just yet.

I was actually thinking about trying WoW until that new star wars mmo was announced. It's looks beautiful.
You are referring to SWTOR right? That game looks epic. I'm definitely getting it.

Yeah, stay away from WoW. I've heard horrible stories of what people did while addicted to that game.

Society can't be perfect, that's true, because there's no way everyone will agree. But that doesn't mean we can't try to make it better :P

Who cares about these words? Socialist? Communist? Capitalist? Why should we care? If people are suffering should we help them? If people are working hard and getting nothing, should we give them more? Maybe it just goes in a cycle. Who knows?

Iran helped us during the war in Iraq. Besides, Osama isn't there. Therefore, we don't invade Iran. Case closed.

If we're pulling out of Iraq it'll even out. Besides, Osama Bin Laden is near there, unlike Iraq.

Philosophy majors from college study that stuff all the time. People who are in debate at my school do too. There's plenty of people who study political philosophies.

I've thought of abortions sometimes like slavery. It was heavily argued, but then at some point it was banned. And of course, it has stayed banned. Abortion sounds something like that. I've wondered if maybe it's inevitable that pro-life wins (even though I, myself, am pro-choice).

But obviously the rest of Fascism wouldn't work well. Most governmental systems have good stuff going for them, but a bunch of bad stuff too... maybe a combination would work best.

^Stuff like death panels and "Obama is a Socialist" (which isn't even a bad thing, necessarily) are definitely annoying.

Abortions is just a debate that... I don't think anyone is going to win. The line is just too unclear.

That's a good point, but since the two-party system exists, another huge issue could come up and divide the nation. Some people compare abortion as "the next slavery", as it really is a controversial issue. But the problem is not the issue, it's really the concept of self-righteousness in all these parties. If they weren't so polarized, hate shouldn't come from either side.

A Direct Constitutional Democracy would require a lot more effort from citizens. No longer can they just elect a president once, they have to make thousands of decisions as well. And as long as businesses don't exploit, they can be privately owned, and be ok with me.

Yes, Obama has made progress, but that doesn't mean it's going to stay. This has happened for decades, where one policy is enacted, and then practically undone by the other side in the next 8 years of presidency. This is the problem of the two party system. I'd say the most urgent thing to do is try to get a wider spectrum of parties voted for, rather than just Democrats and Republicans. It's dividing up our country too much. In fact, George Washington warned us about two things in our country: Not to dwell on slavery, and avoid the two party system. One of them led to a civil war. That means the other can at least divide us against our neighbors.
