September 22nd, 2010, by Carl B. - The gaming industry is filled with some truly great people; Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideo Kojima, and Peter Molyneux are examples of creative and inspiring developers. Public relations representatives and company presidents also fall into that category, with Reggie Fils-Aime being highly popular among the Nintendo crowd. With all these industry icons, which are the most disliked? Be sure to check out the poll at the end of the article.


Cammie Dunaway

Previous to joining Nintendo of America in 2007, Dunaway was the chief marketing officer for Yahoo! since 2003, and worked at Frito-Lay for 13 years before she joined Yahoo!. Dunaway made two E3 appearances for Nintendo, including the infamous demonstration from E3 2008. Many "hardcore" fans didn't take too kindly to Dunaway after E3 2008, due to her being the "face" of the casual gamer Nintendo was appealing to. At E3 2008, she appeared on stage with Shuan White to demo Shuan White Snowboarding on the Wii, and told an irrelevant story about breaking her wrist. Dunaway did not appear on stage at E3 2010, as Nintendo opted for the more popular Reggie Fils-Aime. On September 20th, 2010, she announced her resignation from Nintendo.

David Jaffe

David Jaffe

David Jaffe is the very vocal developer behind the highly rated Twisted Metal and God of War series of games. He maintains a personal blog where he discusses games, development, and even politics. Jaffe, while humorous, has a rep for saying more than he probably should have. In a response to Joystiq comparing him to a "struggling little girl" he said via his blog, "F*** you, guys. Go f*** yourselves. What other developer makes a f***ing change to a game when a review (IGN's in this case) has a good, valid point and is willing to open the f***ing code up at the risk of more bugs to make the game better? Amazing. But hey, you guys are great, you guys rock. I hope Kotaku f***ing puts your ass out of business, wanna be f***tards. And if you were actual journalists you would have read the motherf****ing quote I posted on NEOGAF where I said because of the two bugs we needed to fix (not because I was afraid of the bargain bin) we had a window of opp. to fix the magnet problem. Assholes… total f***ing assholes."

Bobby Kotick

Bobby Kotick

The words "dislike", "hate", and "evil" are synonymous with "Bobby Kotick." His infamy has only risen as of late, with talk of milking franchises for their worth, selling cut scene compilations, over pricing DLC, and charging players to play Call of Duty online. On one hand, it's a great business strategy for Activision – they're taking what they know people will buy, making more of it, and then possibly over pricing it in the future. On the consumer side, some gamers hate to see their franchises get yearly releases and their overall quality may be hurt because of it. Finally, on the last extreme, Bobby Kotick may be saving the gaming industry.
