The Best Looking Third-Party Wii Games

The Best Looking Third-Party Wii Games (by Carl B.)

October 25th, 2010, by Carl B. - The Nintendo Wii isn't anywhere near as powerful as its PS3 or Xbox 360 counterparts, but the system has held its own quite well against the HD and photo realistic games of this generation. Nintendo has always been a master of their own system with great looking games including Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid Prime 3, but many third party developers on the Wii have put out stunning games visually.

The Conduit

Where The Conduit lacked in art style, it made up in with sheer technical prowess. The Conduit features great looking particle effects and shading in a very realistic looking world.

The environments in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers' seamless world are very gorgeous. Character models look natural and textures are highly detailed throughout the entire game.

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes

With loads upon loads of on screen enemies, Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes maintains a perfect frame rate and visuals on par with that of Monster Hunter Tri. Environments are varied and much detail was put into the quality of the visuals and the overall scope of each area.

Monster Hunter Tri

Monster Hunter Tri is quite possibly the best realistic looking game on the Wii. Environments are more detailed than any game on Wii, only to be hindered by a two second loading screen between each area. Monsters are gigantic in size and their animations are perfectly smooth and life like.

Red Steel 2
Red Steel 2

Making Red Steel 2 a cel-shaded game is probably the best thing Ubisoft have ever done. The opening sequence of the game -- the main character being dragged by a motorcycle and flames exploding everywhere -- left my jaw dropped. Red Steel 2's frame rate is a perfectly smooth 60 FPS with no hitches at all, even in the heat of gun and sword battles.
